ERO PLENARY SESSION ISTANBUL 2008

DENTAL WORLD HAS MET IN İSTANBUL

FDI World Dental Federation’s  European Dental Organization (ERO) Plenary Session was held in the Marmara Hotel in İstanbul.
In the elections during the  ERO Plenary Session which was held in Moskow on April 20th and 21st, 2007, Turkey was approved to host the ERO Plenary Session for the second time since April 24th - 26th, 1997 event in İstanbul.

FDI  President Dr Burton Conrod, ERO President Dr Patrcik Hescot and FDI President-Elect  Dr  Gerhard Seeberger  and ERO General Secretary Dr Philippe Rusca and other 34  delegates coming from the other member countries have attended to the ERO Plenary Session in İstanbul which   was a real gain for our country and profession due to the   Turkish Dental Association’s Centennial Congress of  the Scientific Dentistry which will  be celebrated this year.   

During his speech in the opening ceremony of the ERO Plenary Session, Turkish Dental Association’s President Dr Celal Korkut Yıldırım stated that he is very honored to host the European delegates  for the second time in İstanbul and he has highlighted that the resolutions which are taken during ERO and FDI Assemblies are very important since these resolutions and the implementation of these resolutions will shape the future of  the profession.

During the ERO Plenary Session which lasted  for two days,  the issues such as the problems of the profession and solutions for these problems, etc. Have been handled  and furthermore the Working Groups of ERO on Liberal Dental Practice in Europe, Parity, Enlargement, Prevention, Women in Dentistry and Dental Team, Continous Dental Education have presented their reports.

Besides,  in the  scientific section of the ERO Plenary Session Dr Edoardo Cavallé  has given lecture regarding the “Risk Management of Dental Team”, “Key words: concepts of the New Mentality in Dentistry”  and Prof. Dr. İnci Oktay has presented “The Risk Management in terms of Malpractice in the Dental Team”  and Dr.Jean-Claude Michel has presented “The Risk Management in Dental Surgery and  Bringing Dental Surgery to a Safe Degree”  under the title of  “Risk Management” .

After the intensive professional program, the ERO delegates have found to see the historiacal and cultural beauties of İstanbul by the social program of the  congress.
